Visual Product Search finds products in your catalog by photo, entirely on your phone. An on-device machine learning model turns each photo into an image embedding, and a vector search over a local database finds the products that look most alike.

Try it with the sample catalog

1. Open the app. On the Search tab, tap Add sample products. Ten sample products, such as a rubber duck, bananas, a mug and headphones, are added in a few seconds.
2. Under Try an example image, tap any picture to see the best match from the catalog, with other likely matches below it.
3. Tap Search by photo, allow camera access, point the camera at an everyday object such as a mug or a banana, and tap the shutter button.
4. To add your own products, open the Catalog tab and tap +. Give the product a name, price and aisle, and take a few photos of it.

Common questions

Search doesn’t find my product.

Add two or three photos of it from different angles, in good light against a plain background.

The camera shows a permission message.

Allow camera access in Settings > Visual Product Search > Camera (iPhone), or Settings > Apps > Visual Product Search > Permissions (Android).

Where is my data?

On your phone. The app doesn’t upload your photos or products. See our privacy policy.

How do I start over?

Open the app’s Settings (the gear icon on the Catalog tab) and tap Delete all products. You can add the sample products again from there too.
