This privacy policy describes how the Visual Product Search app for iPhone and Android (“the app”) handles your information. The app is published by Infinite Red, Inc. (“Infinite Red”, “we”, “us”). This policy covers only the Visual Product Search app. Our website and our other projects are covered by Infinite Red’s privacy policy.

Information the App Handles

The app uses your device’s camera to take photos of products, solely for on-device processing to find visually similar products in a catalog stored on your device. The app does not access your photo library.

• Photos. Each photo is converted into an image embedding (a numerical description of how the product looks) on your device.
• Your catalog. Product photos, embeddings and the product details you enter, such as names, descriptions, prices and aisles, are stored in the app’s local storage on your device.
• Temporary cache. Photos you take, for a search or for a product, are first saved in the app’s temporary cache. The app deletes them from it as soon as it is done with them: once a product has its own copy, when you remove a photo or leave the product form, and when you leave a search’s results. Search photos are never added to the catalog.

All processing occurs locally on the device.

Use of Information

The app uses your photos and product details only to build your catalog and to find the products that look most like a photo you take. We do not use them for anything else, and we do not receive them.

Protecting Your Information

Because your photos and catalog stay on your device, they are protected by your device’s own security, such as its passcode and the app’s private storage. We build the app to keep this data on the device and do not collect it.

Sharing Your Personal Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. The app does not transmit photos, embeddings or product data to external servers or share them with third parties.

Analytics, Advertising and Tracking

The app does not use analytics, advertising or tracking. It does not include analytics or advertising SDKs, and it makes no network requests of its own.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data, such as requests for correction, erasure, or access. Because the app keeps your data on your device, you can erase it yourself in the app: delete any product, or delete everything at once (see Data Retention). We are committed to protecting your data and will adhere to applicable law regarding any data breaches.

Data Retention

The app keeps your data on your device until you delete it:

• Deleting a product in the app deletes its photos and data from the device.
• “Delete all products” in the app’s Settings deletes every product and its photos.
• All of the app’s data is deleted from the device when you uninstall the app.

Children’s Privacy

The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app does not send any of the data it stores to us or to anyone else.

Third-Party Websites

The app and this site may link to external sites, such as infinite.red. These third-party sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.

Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If a change affects what the app does with your data, we will also describe it in the release notes of the app update that makes the change.

Acceptance of These Terms

By using the app, you signify your acceptance of this policy. If you do not agree, please refrain from using the app.
